A Night Out With the Classics
This memorable production premiered at Washani TMs in Wisconsin
on January 22, 2009. An up-and-coming star in her own right, the
highlight of the show went to Miss Cherry as she gave us an academy
award-winning delivery of the "Hollywood Classics."
Early on it seemed that Cherry wrote the script on her rise to
fame so we can't say that we were shocked when we read the bold
tabloid headlines in November of 2008. Miss Cherry is purported
to have emphatically stated: "It Had to Be You" in reference
to her leading man, Himalaya's Lin Gyi (stage name: Drago). This
team gave a rock-solid performance their first time out and both
obviously share the same artistic vision. It was an easy decision
to gamble a second time on this blockbuster pair.
In only her second interview with the Hyatt Times, we sat back
and took our direction from Miss Cherry as she gave us her thoughts
and memories of her favourite Hollywood Classics. The emotional
impact reached an all-time high as she introduced us to her very
own cast of eight.
"You must remember this," Miss Cherry began. "my
love affair with Hollywood began with "a date with fate in
Casablanca!" so now I want to give my love of classic films
to my children. Actors and actresses were truly star material then
and the red carpet simply glittered." Commenting on her own
stardoom, Miss Cherry compares her meteoric rise to the story of
her favorite film. "Casablanca was just another film in its
day. No one expected it to become such a beloved masterpiece. I
know that it was expected that my co-star and I would draw on our
natural born talents but I'm not sure we were expected to create
such a spectacular gem." Of course, Miss Cherry is referring
to her 2007 film 'The Power Of One' - The Story of Washani's Dargyel
Yundoog." It was at this point, Miss Cherry invited her first-born
daughter to join us. "I tell my daughter Cassy all
the time to stay away from gin joints and just concentrate on learning
her lines."
Our Dodgeville interview and celebrations were momentarily disrupted
when Cherry's son Rio put up his dukes
as Cherry recounted the gun-slinger action from the film Rio Bravo.
But even his ears perked up when Cherry told of the mysterious
young beauty that arrived on the last stagecoach.
We were charmed by Miss Cherry's delightful daughter Gigi. "Thank
Heaven for little girls! She's beautiful and enchanting but a bit
of a tomboy, " her mother told us. "I can see her playing
the lead in Cinderella if they ever do a re-make but she'll have
to mature some."
Named after that famous 1940 screwball comedy, Cherry went on
to tell us about her daughter Friday,
her father's favorite. "Friday is definitely His Girl. Lately,
we've seen a bit more indecision from Friday. Waffling a little
about her path in life but she is quick and smart. Sometimes she
likes to report on her siblings but she's definitely front page
news and deserves top-billing. Perhaps we'll encourage her to be
a writer. She's aces and we're just waiting for her first big story."
"Another American classic that stands the test of time is
Cool Hand Luke and I'd like to introduce you to my son Cool.
A bit of a non-conformist, he's a natural born world shaker, he
can really hold us captive. He loves to have his fun and I predict
he'll be a genuine matinee idol. We often tell him, 'You're an
original, that's what you are!' We'll have to ask the warden to
make sure that he doesn't get a reputation, but he's a good egg
and we're sure that he will be admired by all."
Next we were introduced to Cherry's son Topper named
for that classic madcap film. "We learned quite early that
fun-loving Topper was more of a comedic performer. With a little
help from some outside influences, our Topper is livening up our
lives. His partner in comedy is a true heroine. Our very own Ducky of
Duck Soup fame. When these two are together we're looking at mayhem
and chaos."
There were a few times when we were barely keeping ahead of production.
We have to admit that by this time we were caught looking somewhere
over the rainbow as things took a turn and suddenly became quite
hectic. Cherry said that every mother starts feeling like Dorothy
caught up in a tornado's path with so many children. On life's
journey on the Yellow Brick Road we eventually find our way to
the Emerald City if we stick with it long enough. It just takes
brains, heart and courage. We may have met up with a few Munchkins
along the way and we had to wait out the hourglass but, eventually,
we all got to meet the Great and Powerful Oz. And all things in
Oz are magical." We had to wipe a tear at the perfect ending
of this story as son Oz sighed, "There's
no place like home."
So there you have it. As these young leading boys and girls prepare
to go off in their debut roles, Hyatt Times will be reviewing the
latest achievements and performances of this new cast of eight.
All sure to be instant classics in their own right, so we hope
that you will return to support their endeavours as they're going
to love an audience. Stay tuned as this legendary family sets the
stage to light imaginations aflame. We know their beauty will have
the papparazzi on the run and we're sure to hear that final famous
line more than once......."All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready
for my close up."
